Head Coach, Gary
Varner
Coach Gary Varner is a native of
Syracuse,
New York
were he graduated from
Liverpool
High School
in 1984. Upon graduation, Coach Varner attended
Oswego
State
University
were he obtained a bachelors degree in marketing. After graduating college, Coach Varner served 5 years in the United States
Navy were he served on board the USS Truxton as a Nuclear Reactor
Operator. After his discharge from the Navy, Coach Varner earned his Masters Degree in
Business Education at
Oswego
University
as well as a Specialist in Business Education at
West Georgia. In 1996 Coach Varner relocated to
Cobb County,
Georgia
were he accepted a position as Business Education teacher and offensive
line coach at Pebblebrook
High School. During his time at
Pebblebrook the Falcons achieved a perfect 10-0 season, a region
championship, and a trip to the Sweet 16 in the state playoffs.
After his 5 years at Pebblebrook, Coach Varner accepted a job at Kell
High School
where he served as the offensive coordinator.
After his brief stint at Kell, Coach Varner accepted the offensive
coordinator position at Roswell
High School
in the fall of 2005. During his first year at
Roswell, he helped lead the Hornets to a region championship and a trip to the
Sweet 16. During his tenure at Roswell
the Hornets went 32-7-1 which included a 7-2-1 playoff record, a trip to
the final 8 and a state championship in 2006. Coach Varner lives with his
wife Emily and their two children Kate and Anna.

Coach Troy Peterson,
Defensive Coordinator
Coach Troy Petersen is a native of
Powder Springs,
Georgia.
He graduated from McEachern
High School
where he was a three year letterman in both football and soccer. After
high school, Coach Petersen attended Tennessee
Technological
University
where he played football and obtained a bachelors degree in physical
education. In 1995, Coach Petersen moved back to
Georgia
and began teaching and coaching in Cobb
County. He accepted a position as a
linebackers coach at
South
Cobb
High School. After
a year coaching at South Cobb, Coach Petersen began teaching and coaching
at Wheeler
High School. He spent six years at
Wheeler where he coached football (linebackers), boy’s soccer, swimming.
In 2002, Coach Petersen accepted a job to open Kell
High School
where he coached football and soccer.
He was also one of the head strength and conditioning coaches.
After four years at Kell
High School, Coach Petersen was offered and accepted the head strength and
conditioning position as well as linebackers coach at Hillgrove
High School
until the spring of 2008.
Coach Peterson also earned a Master Degree in Educational
Administration from Jacksonville State University and is currently
working on his Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership at
Lincoln Memorial University. Coach
Troy Petersen is excited about being the Defensive Coordinator for the
Buccaneers and looks forward to building traditions and watching the
football program grow.
Coach Petersen has been married to Laurie Taylor Petersen for one year and
appreciates all the love and support she has given him while starting his
third High school program.

Coach David Cintron
Coach David Cintron is originally from Saratoga Springs,
NY. He played college football
at
Norwich
University
in Vermont
as a strong safety for four years. He
comes to us from Roswell
and is currently coaching wide receivers.
Highlights of his career include making it to the Final 8 and
winning a state championship at Roswell
High School
in 2006. His area of teaching is
Special Education Coach David Cintron enjoys spending time with his wife, 4 year old
son Jackson, and his new baby girl, Mary Elizabeth. Coaching
Experience: 5 years.

Coach Barry Cox
Coach Cox has been coaching and teaching for 24 years, including 16 as a
head football coach in SC and ten years as Athletic Director. Highlights
of his career include an undefeated state championship and making the
state finals two other times. He is a Social Studies teacher and loves
teaching. His wife Cathy works in the
Paulding
County
School District. They have 5 wonderful children.

Bret
Hubinger
Coach
Brett Hubinger is a native of Kenilworth, New Jersey. He attended
the University of Pittsburgh and Murray State University, playing
offensive line. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Murray
State University in Physical Education and Health Education.
After his career in football ended, Coach Hubinger was the
Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Murray State Men’s
Basketball team.
This
is Coach Hubinger’s first year on the Allatoona Football Staff.
He comes to us after spending 13 years at Pope High School,
where he was Head of Strength and Conditioning and a Defensive
Line/Offensive Line coach.
He was also involved with Pope’s Track and Field staff as a
throwers coach.
Coach Hubinger will be a part of the Defensive Staff for
Allatoona Football, coaching the Defensive End and Bandit positions.
He will also assist in the weight room and run all
conditioning programs for the Buccaneer’s. Coach
Hubinger is extremely excited to be a part of the Allatoona family
and would like to thank Coach Varner and Mr. Bursmith for this great
opportunity.
Coach
Hubinger is married to Lisa Hubinger and has 5 children: Kandon –
18, Danielle – 18, Bria – 11, Kelli – 9 and Corinne – 5,
where they reside in Kennesaw.
He would especially like to thank his family for their love
and support.

Coach Mike
Dennison
Coach Mike Dennison played college football at Georgia Southern
University, and won two National Championships in 1999 and 2000. He
played offensive tackle at GSU. He grew up in
Kennesaw,
Georgia
and played High School ball at North
Cobb
High School
. He played defensive tackle and offensive tackle at North Cobb.
He is coming to us after coaching last year at North Cobb Christian.
He coached offensive and defensive lines at NCC.

Coach Byrd
Coach
Byrd comes to us from Wheeler
High school
where he served as offensive coordinator the past two seasons. He is a
graduate of Piedmont College
with a BA in History/Education. He also received a Masters from Jacksonville
State
University
in Educational Leadership. Coach Byrd and his wife Terri have a son,
Cooper.

Andy Wilcox
Andy
graduated with a B.S. in Biology Education from Kennesaw State
University. He played football and baseball at Sprayberry High
School. He went on to play defensive end at the University of
West Georgia where he also was a 2 year Student Assistant.
While coaching at North Cobb High School, Coach Wilcox spent 4 years
coaching football and baseball. |
Coach
Jonathan Wishon
Coach WIshon
graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health and Physical
Educatoin from Kennesaw State University. Jonathan played
linebacker at McEachern High School from 1998 - 2001 where he
received "All-County Honors" his senior year.
Hobbies include the outdoors. He is also proud to announce his
engagement to Ms. Sarah Whitaker. Coach Wishon is currently
the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach for the Freshman
team.

Coach Jeremy Anderson
Coach
Anderson graduated in 2004 from Collins Hills High School in Gwinnett
County where he was a 3 year letterman in Track & Field and
Football. He is currently a senior at Kennesaw State University and
will graduate with a degree in Mathematics. This is his 2nd year
coaching football and is very excited about working with the Allatoona
Football Program.

Kimberly
Armbruster, M.Ed, ATC/LAT
Kimberly is coming to Allatoona HS from Paulding
County
HS
where she was the athletic trainer for the past two years.
She also finished her first year teaching Elementary Physical
Education at Northside/Union Elementary Schools.
Originally from
Missouri, Kimberly is a 2004 graduate of
Southeast
Missouri
State
University
located in Cape Girardeau,
Missouri
. From Southeast, she
graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Health Management/Athletic
Training. She is also a 2006 graduate of
Columbus
State
University
in Columbus,
Georgia
where she received her Master’s Degree in Health and Physical Education.
During graduate school, Kimberly was employed by Hughston
Orthopedic Hospital and provided medical coverage for Hardaway High School
which is also in Columbus, Georgia. |
